In our world today, it’s become more and more difficult to resist the power of our negative thoughts and words. We are constantly bombarded with negative messages from our media and social outlets, leaving us feeling helpless and even more vulnerable to negativity. But what if we could use powerful words to develop a positive mindset to bring about healing and joy in our lives? This is the idea behind the work of Dr. Masaru Emoto, a Japanese researcher who studied the power of words and how they affect our lives.
Powerful Messages
Dr. Emoto’s research acquired attention when his book, “The Hidden Messages In Water” was published, where he shared images of water exposed to positive words. He discovered that the effects of positive words and loving expressions could shape water into beautiful crystals. He showed that by focusing on positive words and thoughts, the crystals formed geometric patterns and complex designs. Conversely, when one used negative or hateful words and expressions, the crystals became distorted and lacked symmetry.
Dr. Emoto’s research reveals the incredible power of our words and thoughts. By choosing to focus on positive and loving words, we can create powerful vibrations that can literally transform the world around us. Let us all take the time today to pause, take a deep breath, and choose our words wisely. By doing this, we can create a ripple effect of positive energy around us.
Turning Negativity into Positive Mindset
Affirmations are short, positive statements that can help to rewire our brains and shape our self-esteem by creating positive associations. Most of us have a natural tendency to focus on the negative aspects of our lives. We focus on what’s wrong and what we don’t have, rather than on the positives and what we have to be grateful for. Positive affirmations are a way to break that pattern and rewire our brains to focus on the good in our lives.
If you’re having trouble thinking of affirmations that work for you, you can find inspiration in song lyrics, poetry, or even by just talking to yourself. It’s important to remember that the power of affirmations comes from the words themselves and the way they resonate with you, so make sure the words you choose serve to empower you. Whether you’re looking to make a big change in your life, or just looking to make small changes to your daily routine, positive affirmations are a powerful tool that can help to inspire and motivate you on your journey towards self-improvement.
Supporting Children with their Mindset
If we are being honest with ourselves, we know the negative thought patterns that we fall into. Now, close your eyes. Think about the children in your lives.
Your own children. Nieces. Nephews. Grandchildren. Friend’s children.
Do we see these same negative thought patterns with them? Of course! Children are inundated with negative messaging all the time. If we aren’t careful, that messaging comes directly from us, too.
How can we help? Modeling positive self talk is a great way to start. Being aware of the tone, inflection, and language we use around children is a huge starting point. They take their cues from us. Whether they are our own children, not.
Help children reframe their thinking. For example:
“Math is too hard” becomes “If I keep working hard, math will get easier.”
Or simply have them repeat affirmations like, “I am strong,” “I am confident,” “I am smart”. Watch the smiles grow as well as their positivity!
